INT. LAURA\u2019S APARTMENT \u2013 NIGHT<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LAURA<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(quietly, but with sharp emotion)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why do you call me when you don\u2019t love me?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MASSIMO<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(takes a step inside, hesitant)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Laura, it\u2019s not that simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LAURA<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is that simple. You call me. You say things that keep me hoping. But when I look in your eyes, it\u2019s like I\u2019m a ghost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MASSIMO<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t want to lose you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LAURA<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You already have. You just don\u2019t want to be alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Beat. Silence between them. Rain outside grows heavier.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MASSIMO<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I miss you. I miss\u2026 the way we were.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LAURA<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We don\u2019t exist anymore. And if you can\u2019t love me now, when it matters, then don\u2019t call. Don\u2019t drag me back into your silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(She turns away. He looks at her, struggling to say something, but instead takes a step back.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MASSIMO<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(softly)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goodbye, Laura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LAURA<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(whispers, without turning around)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
