When Parody Goes Too Far: Emily Ratajkowski Draws the Line

Emily Ratajkowski revealed that she personally asked Australian comedian Celeste Barber to stop recreating her Instagram photos, explaining that she no longer wanted to be included in those parodies. While Barber is famous for poking fun at celebrities’ carefully curated social media images, Ratajkowski said the humor eventually crossed a line for her.
On her High Low with EmRata podcast, she shared that her message was simple and direct she just wanted it to end. Although she noted that Barber is often funny and that parody has its place, Ratajkowski stressed that consent matters, especially when jokes revolve around women’s bodies and personal images.
She also confirmed that she blocked Barber on social media, something Barber has openly acknowledged. The exchange ignited broader online debate about the limits of satire, personal boundaries, and whether public figures should have control over how their likeness is reused, even for comedic purposes.
